Final Piece Selection...

This is my final selection for my final piece . I will be presenting these photos into frames to appear to be on wall in a family home. I wanted these photographs to depict natural, candid and realistic family life. From the chores, to the mundane routines, to the meaningful and special relational moments families perform every day, that often go over looked and seen to be 'undesirable' and so don't photograph. This is the family we don't see. This is the family life we don't want to display. But, this is the real family, this is how the family should be and has always been, we have just never seen it, as it has been locked away or not remembered by taking a photograph of it.

I wanted there to be a stark and distinct contrast between these 'through the doorway' photographs and the ones I will be presenting into an old photo album of my own old family photos. The ones is the photo album are much more formal and serious and unrealistic of family relationships, where as these ones are powerful and almost shocking in a different way. They are powerful as they are a style never seen to be 'family photography' as we always like to put our best face on for a family photo. However in my opinion, it is these special and unique moments that are the most important and cherished times in our lives.

These are the final selection of the ones I will be presenting in the old family photo album. I chose to edit these into black and white. Some of them were already in black and white but I wanted them all to look the in terms of atheistic. I also wanted to show the difference between old family portraiture and modern family portraiture in that the old versions are very dull and boring in regard to there colour, positioning and strategic facial expressions, whereas the 'through the doorway' series is colourful and playful despite being of mundane and boring ,every day tasks that every family performs.
